Born in Pauls Valley Oklahoma, on August 19, 1945, Jerry spent his youth as many do by serving his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a Radio Operator. Jerry would later find his calling in aviation by painting helicopters at Bell Helicopter & planes at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth where he retired in 2004 after 30 years of service.
Jerry had a servant leaders' heart as demonstrated by his volunteer work as a reserve police officer for the Springtown Police Department and his over 45 years as a member of the Walnut Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and volunteered numerous hours on many church projects and he was a Mason at Azle Masonic Lodge.
Jerry and his wife of 53 years, JoAnn, built a home in Reno, Texas in 1976 where they raised three daughters. Jerry's belief in God and family showed by his devotion to God's word and the never-ending support he provided to his family.
After retiring, Jerry enjoyed fishing and the occasional garage sale venture. He loved buying things from garage sales not for himself but as he would say, "in case someone needs it".
Although Jerry loved fishing and garage sales, his real love was his family. He loved family gatherings where he was always surrounded by those that he loved and those that loved him. If you saw Jerry, you saw JoAnn. Jerry's legacy was his never-ending faith in God and lifelong love for JoAnn and his family. Jerry and JoAnn's bond and life story were unique and the kind of thing books are written about.
Jerry is survived by his wife, JoAnn Hollingsworth; their daughters, Shelli Haas, Robin Minter, husband Greg, Jennifer Lane, husband Brian, Tammy Hollingsworth; his ten grandchildren, Jason Haas, wife Amy, Adison Haas, wife Lindsay, Tiffay Turner, husband Jarrett, Marshall Scarbro, wife Brooke, Brittany Caballero, husband Nick, Payton Cockburn, Justin Minter, Zachary Herrera, Mallie Herrera & Christopher Young; his 15 great grandchildren; brother, Gene Hollingsworth, wife Barbara, sister, Susan Emmons, husband Jimmy.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Alton "Bill" Hollingsworth, wife Dorothy; mother, Helen Harris, husband Melvin; and his brother, Arthur "Donnie" Hollingsworth.
You are deeply loved and will forever be missed. Now that you can fish again, tell Papa we still miss him too.
