Jerry Lou Nyswonger, born May 29, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Kenneth Spring and Ruby Hogue Spring, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015, in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Bethesda Community Church, 4700 North Beach, Fort Worth. Burial: Jerry Lou will be buried at 2 p.m. Friday next to her husband, Bill, in the IOOF Cemetery in Indianola, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Community Church. Having been born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa all her life, she married Bill Nyswonger of Indianola and became his "farmer's wife." In younger years she was employed at People's Bank in Indianola, followed by employment at Younkers Department Store in Des Moines. Following the death of her husband in 1985 she moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be near her daughter and family. Her life was given to loving and serving Jesus, His church, and her family. She will always be remembered for her ability to reach to people, love and embrace them, and sharing her love for singing and playing her guitar. She is preceded death by her father, Kenneth Spring; her mother, Ruby Hogue Spring (who died when Jerry Lou was six weeks old). Both parents were from Des Moines, Iowa. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William Dean (Bill) Nyswonger of Indianola, Iowa; and her sister Shirley Simon of Des Moines, Iowa. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Nyswonger Smith, of Fort Worth; and Becky's husband, J. Daniel Smith, also of Fort Worth; she is also survived by her grandson, Shaylor Ryan Smith and his wife Natalie Holmes Smith; and her granddaughter, Sheridan Smith Cooper and her husband Christopher Cooper, all of Fort Worth.
