Jim David Newman, longtime resident of Springtown, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at the age of 84.

Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at The Word, at Lakeside.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 in Biggers Funeral Home.

Burial: Jaybird Cemetery.

Born June 5, 1941, Jim lived a life marked by service, hard work, faith, and love for people. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He carried that same dedication and strength throughout his life.

Jim was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Jim was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California, Moody Air Force Base in Georgia, and Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina. After Vietnam, Jim owned and operated several Hess and BP service stations. He owned and operated his own excavation company which carried through after moving his family back to Texas. He built a life through determination and perseverance. Beyond his work, Jim found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved playing guitar, restoring tractors, tending to his farm animals, taking Sunday drives with his wife, and sharing his deep passion for music.

Jim loved people and never met a stranger. His faith was a cornerstone of his life. As a devoted member of Lakeside Church of God, Jim faithfully served for 16 years in the church's military ministry, touching countless lives through encouragement, fellowship, and service.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Leonard H. Newman; his mother, Rev. Juanita H. Newman; and his sister, Joy Newman.

He is survived by his brothers, Leonard, Phil, and Steve; his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen Newman; his daughter, Dena Dial and her husband Mark, his son, David Newman, and daughter, Denise Fowler and her husband, Terry; his cherished grandchildren, Tracy, Marcy, Grant, Ariel, Logan, and Lauren; and ten great-grandchildren who brought great joy to his life.

Jim will be remembered for his warm heart, unwavering faith, love of family and country, and the joy he brought to those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of kindness, laughter, music, and act of service will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
