John William Studer, 89, a World War II (Iwo Jima) survivor, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, at a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dallas VA Hospice or to a charity of choice in the name of John W. Studer. John was born December 2, 1924, in Seymour to Olin and Bertha Studer. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. He was preceded in death by a wife, Helen; his parents; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Martha C. Studer; stepdaughter, Mary Ann Clifton and husband, Cris Duron; sister, Eileene Ryan; several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews; and many friends.
