Joy Lynn Schnell of Fort Worth was reunited with her husband in the presence of the Lord Thursday, January 22, 2026. She was 90 years old. Joy Lynn Schnell was a loving, thoughtful mother of 4 and grandmother of 6 (Oma). She was a teacher for 17 years at Eagle Mountain Elementary School.

Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m., February 7, 2026 with visitation following, Lighthouse Fellowship, 7200 Robertson Road, Fort Worth, TX 76179.

Joy Lynn was born on June 21, 1935, in Van Wert, Ohio. She was an only child and attended York High School. She lived on an 80-acre farm with a beautiful lawn surrounding a two-story house which was built by her father's parents which was the Morris homestead.

She graduated from Bowling Green University and in 1958 married Tom C. Schnell, an R.O.T.C. graduate of The Ohio State University. She supported Tom's Air Force career from 1958 to 1980 by uprooting their growing family as they received new orders sending Tom to Biloxi, Mission, Waco, Merced, Riverside, Great Falls, Blytheville, Montgomery, Springfield VA, Washington D.C. (Pentagon) and finally Fort Worth in 1978. She took her children to Van Wert, Ohio to live during Tom's orders to serve his country in Bangkok during the Vietnam war.

Upon retirement from the United States Air Force, Tom and Joy were given certificates of appreciation for faithful and devoted service of 20 years. Joy Lynn was proud that their combined incomes allowed them to put their four children through college and later supported their six grandchildren's education.

Joy Lynn and family joined Lake Worth United Methodist Church in 1979 and was a member of United Methodist Women in her early years. She was a champion of encouragement and named the "Barnabas" for Lake Worth United Methodist Church as well as the Fort Worth District West of the United Methodist Church.

Joy is survived by her children, T.R. Schnell, Kimberly Schnell Little, Cheri McCollam, Jeanette D. Schnell Venizelos; six grandchildren, Carlton Schnell, Dillion and Christian Schnell, Ben McCollam, Nicoletta and Katrina Venizelos.
