Joyce Gene Sowell Ham of Farmers Branch, Texas, returned home to her heavenly father surrounded by her family on August 22, 2016. A Celebration of Life and Memorial will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Biggers Funeral Home Chapel. There will be no viewing or graveside service. Joyce was born February 9, 1939 to Henry Zachariah Sowell and Ora Myrtle Dunn Sowell in Memphis, Texas. She attended school in both, Memphis and Pampa, Texas. Joyce worked as a soda jerk where she caught the eye of Billie Lee Ham. Joyce and Bill were married in Pampa on December 29, 1959. Together they enjoyed a life of great love and respect. Joyce and Bill traveled and lived in many places while raising their family of four girls. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, cooking and being with her friends. She loved to go shopping with her girls and making her own birthday and Christmas cards for family and friends. Joyce crafted baby blankets for all her great grandchildren. She was the epitome of mother and motherhood. Joyce was preceded in death by the love of her life, Billie Lee Ham; both her parents; her brother, Henry Arben Sowell; her sister, MaryBeth Tamplen; and one grandson, Rusty Lee Taylor. Joyce loved to laugh. Remember her with a story and a smile. Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Kathryn Walton, and husband, Kenneth Walton of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Teresa Stelly and husband, Robert Stelly of Fort Worth; Laura Graham and husband, Colin Graham of Vernon; Jolyn Ham and husband, Domingo Luna of Merkel; Joyce has one surviving sister, Mae Jeffers of Memphis, Texas; one brother, Alvis Tamplen of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and many good friends survive Joyce.
