Joyce Jean Westerfield Stivers, 93, of Azle, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Thursday, August 27, 2026.

A Celebration of Her Life: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Cornerstone Community Church, 2233 East Hwy. 199, Springtown, Texas 76082.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Community Church in her memory or to a charity/ organization of your choice.

Jean was born March 24, 1933, in San Benito, Texas to Henry Howell and Marguerite Cobb Vinson. They later moved to the Fort Worth area. In 1949 the family moved to Ennis, Texas where she graduated from Ennis High School.

Jean asked Jesus into her heart when she was around 13 years old at a Bible camp in Louisiana. She remembered being in church since she was about 6 years old.

Jean married Buddy Dent in 1952 and they had Don & DeeAnn. They were married about 12 years.

In 1980 she met and married Wes Westerfield. They enjoyed travelling and made lasting memories together. She enjoyed being a church secretary in Houston and Azle but was ready to retire in 1997 to spend more time with Wes and her ailing mother. She and Wes were faithful charter members of Cornerstone Community Church. He passed in December 2007.

A few years after Wes died, she met and married Alvin Stivers. They did enjoy going on a cruise to Alaska together. They had a brief marriage due to his sudden death after only 2-1/2 years.

Jean loved her family and friends dearly but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jeus Christ and longs to see each one of you in heaven one day. She passed out gospel tracts for decades to people she would encounter. She had such a passion about this that it became who she was. She could not separate herself from sharing about Jesus Christ. She would literally cry when thinking of her unsaved loved ones perishing for all of eternity.

She said, “We all have to ask the Lord to forgive our sins, repent, and receive Him by faith into our hearts and live for Him.”

Jean is survived by her daughter, DeeAnn Smith and husband, Jimmy; stepdaughters, Pat Letsinger and Linda Stevens; sister-in-law, Meloneize Vinson; grandchildren, Aaron and Stefani Lott, Belinda and Dawn Westerfield, Allen Wood and wife, Patty; great-grandchildren, Ian Carmichael and wife, Mia, Atticus Lott, Colin Carmichael, Julius Lott, Joy Carmichael, Charlie Lott; and 2nd great granddaughter, Liisa Carmichael along with numerous other extended great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death were her parents; husband, Wes Westerfield; Alvin Stivers; son, Don Dent; stepsons, Johnny, Bob, and Jerry Westerfield; son-in-law, John Letsinger; sisters, Juanita and husband, Victor Neel, Jo and husband, Bill Keasler, Wanda and husband, Willie Dover; brother, C.T. Vinson; grandchildren, Bo Westerfield, Robin Wallace, and other great-grandchildren.
