Kamala was active from an early age and loved movement in all its forms: running, jumping, climbing, playing with friends, and exploring the world around her. She especially enjoyed trips to the library and puzzles that nurtured her love of math and problem-solving.

She also loved bringing home records from the library, listening to the music, and singing along. We spent many happy days riding my bicycle to parks and beaches, near and far. When she was little, neighborhood girls often came over to play in the backyard sandbox and on the swings. Kamala enjoyed accompanying her mom to yoga classes, learning to swim at the nearby YMCA, and making up jokes that kept us all laughing.

After our family moved back to Fort Worth, gymnastics became one of Kamala’s greatest passions, along with swimming. Summers at Camp El Tesoro on the Brazos River were filled with adventure, friendship, and joyful memories.

Kamala graduated from Western Hills High School in 1990. She later earned a degree in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of North Texas.

She began her career at the William Morris Talent Agency in New York, where she worked alongside agents and actors. After several years, she moved to Los Angeles with her boss and built a successful career as a casting director, first in feature films and later in reality television. She had a remarkable gift for recognizing talent and took great pride in finding the right person for each role.

Kamala lived with enthusiasm, curiosity, and creativity. Whether reading, swimming, practicing gymnastics, listening to music, or discovering new talent through her work, she gave herself fully to what she loved. She had a warm sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a gift for making others feel seen and appreciated.

She deeply valued her friendships and the experiences she shared with family, coworkers, and all whose lives she touched. She found joy in helping others succeed and in seeing talented people fulfill their dreams.

Kamala will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, generous heart, and ability to bring laughter and light to those around her. Though her time with us was far too short, her life was filled with love, purpose, and moments of great joy. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Kamala was preceded in death by her stepfather, Larry Lydick.

She is survived by her loving mother, Sandra Lydick; her sister, Robin Fritzler; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and colleagues who will cherish her memory always.
