Karen Cecile Hardacker Stockham, 64, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 10, at Biggers Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Cox will conduct the memorial service, with additional memories shared by family. Karen was cremated, with her ashes to be buried later. Mrs. Stockham, widow of Mr. Leo Roy Stockham of Azle, was in Colorado visiting at the time of her death. Karen was born March 30, 1951, in Fort Worth as the cherished first child of Cecil Hardacker and Henrietta Powell Hardacker. From infancy, Karen experienced health issues and miraculous recoveries. Suffering with seizures at 9 months, she was diagnosed with an aneurysm in her brain. At age 5, Karen had brain surgery removing the life-threatening aneurysm described as the size of a small grapefruit or a large orange. Karen graduated in 1970 from Ranum High School in Westminster, Colorado. She was married briefly in 1972, which resulted in a son, Jon Lavoie, and daughter, Nicole Lavoie. Karen later married Roy Stockham, sharing 16 years of marriage until his death at 72 in 2002. Karen Stockham was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy Stockham. Karens death resulted in two people seeing from donated corneas and skin for those burned. Mourning Karens loss are Jon Lavoie (Natalie) of Spring and Nicole Hamm (James) of Lochbuie, Colorado; an adored grandmother of five and great-grandmother of one; sister, Karla Williams (Joe) of League City; brother, David Hardacker (Hazel) of Austin; and numerous cousins and friends.
