Obituary

My dad had a Kind soul… Memorial Mass: 10:00 am, Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Saint Stephen Catholic Church Committal with Military Honors: 9:15 am, Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas He could usually be found outside next to the grill cooking and enjoying the outdoors. He made the best burgers and would always let me sneak a taste from the grill. Dad enjoyed getting up early in the morning, something that never left him from his years in the Navy. As a kid I would wake each morning to him making his coffee and we would start the day laughing at cartoons together. My dad loved to cook, but even more he loved spending time with family and loved ones. Some of his favorite times to share with family where out fishing or shooting. When out at the lake house each summer dad would make the bet who could catch the biggest fish and each morning he would be up with the sun to get into his inner-tube and float along the lake trying to make that perfect catch. Other than fishing dad enjoyed shooting. He was never much of a hunter and never went off on his own to shoot. No instead he loved having his loved ones around him and making a game out of who could hit the target best. Dad loved being outdoors, he told me that was where he felt most at peace. One of my favorite memories as a kid was the summer dad got into gardening and he let me pick and pretty flower I wanted to add to the garden. The sunflowers we grew that summer where taller than me placed upon his shoulders. To this day I can't see a sunflower without thinking about that garden we shared together. Each of us has a special memory we hold close of the kind man my dad was. I pray that he finds peace and comfort and his spirit will love on in our memories of him. Ken is survived by his daughter, Dannie Kendra Montalvo and her husband, Nicholas; his sister, Ann Gilbert of Benbrook; his brothers, Bobby Adams and Mike Adams; and one grandson, Greyson Montalvo of Lakeside.
