Our mom loved her family ― especially the little ones. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as "Mema."
She took great joy in her rock house on the hill built just for her by her husband, John. From their Angus cattle, multitudes of ducks and chickens, to the occasional stray and her two Canada geese who made her pond their home, mom loved all her animals and the farm she and dad called "My Yoke Is Easy."
Though small in stature, her arms reached out and enveloped all those around her. From the children she watched over through her work with CASA, to the elderly women she made beautiful through her volunteer work, our mother loved caring for others and in return she felt her life greatly enriched by those friendships.
Lana passionately shared her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and manifested those beliefs through warm hospitality ―everyone was always welcome. Whether across her dining table or through a surprise delivery, she enjoyed cooking and sharing her southern creations with her neighbors and friends.
She often played her piano and worshipped God with song. Through her music, she faithfully served her church in Fort Worth for many years. Her songs and melodies continue to be played in churches in Texas and beyond.
Our mom's warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Lana was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, our dad, John W. Cornelsen, Sr., who passed away in March 2015.
She leaves behind her children, John Cornelsen, Jr., (Elizabeth) of Aledo, Texas; Tabitha Young of Greenwich, Connecticut ; Rachel Evans (Brian) of Weatherford, Texas; and Shalom Cornelsen of Dallas, Texas; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with another little one on the way.
