In memory of Larry J. Brownfield, who was called home peacefully with his loving family by his side, on May 28, 2024, in Saginaw, Texas. He was the oldest child of John and Beulah Brownfield, born in Oakland, Iowa, on November 23, 1937. He showed courage while battling serious health issues, yet he always managed to greet you with a smile and share his wonderful sense of humor, that everyone loved.
Larry graduated in 1955, from Abraham Lincon High School, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He retired from Greyhound Bus Lines, after 30 years of dedicated service. At 70, Larry earned an Associates of Applied Science in Business Administration. He was an avid lover of astrology, history, reading and dogs.
Larry was a member of the Masonic Fraternity for over 50 years and held the position of Grand Lecturer, of the Masonic Grand Lodge. He was the Master Mason of Sandoval Lodge, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was also a member of the York Rite Fraternity. Larry was a proud member of the Scottish Rite, where he obtained his 33rd Degree along with his Scottish Rite Master Craftsman, Symbolic Grade.
Larry is survived by his beautiful wife of 67 years, Kay; a proud father of three daughters and one son, Cindy Blakeman and husband, Rick of Council Bluffs, IA, Shelly McHorse and husband, Todd of Fort Worth, TX, Michael Brownfield and wife, Roberta of Spring Valley, CA, and Tracy Sandoval and husband, Demecio of Tijeras, NM; As well as his youngest sister, Lois Austin, of Edgerton, KS. He loved being a very beloved grandfather, to nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He had a passionate love affair with ice cream and cinnamon rolls, which he loved to share with all his grandkids and dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Beulah Brownfield; brothers, Lowell Brownfield Sr., Lanny (Butch) Brownfield, Louis Brownfield Sr, and sister, Lynda Olesen.
The memorial service, to be announced at a later date, will be held in Council Bluffs, Iowa to celebrate Larry's life.
