Larry David Lehman passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 69. A native of Independence, Missouri, Larry was the proud son of Melvin and Mary Lou Lehman.

Service with Military Honors: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Lake Worth, Texas 76135.

Private Interment: Central State Texas Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas

Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at Biggers Funeral Home.

Memorials: The family respectfully request donations may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation (https://cparf.org) in memory of Larry for DeeAnn, his daughter, as this was very important to him.

Larry joined the United States armed forces in 1975 and served with honor for 20 years in the Signal Corps, supporting military communications. He was deployed into three different foreign conflicts during his career of time and remained deeply proud of his service. During that time, he moved his family from Fort Hood, Texas to southwest Germany before finally settling in Augusta, Georgia. Larry was honorably discharged from the Army at Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1995 with the rank of Sergeant.

A devoted Christian and dedicated family man, Larry was a loving father who helped raise six children. He faithfully supported their interests through countless carpools to sporting events, scouting activities, and other functions. He cherished fellowship in all its forms, whether at lively church gatherings or during a spontaneous card game at the kitchen table with friends and loved ones.

Larry had a lifelong love of music and used his talents to bring joy to others. He played several instruments, with a special fondness for guitars, and performed vocals and instrumentals in multiple bands over the years. He generously shared his love of music with his children and grandchildren.

He was also known for his unique wit and unpredictable comedic timing. He delighted in sharing "dad jokes" with anyone who would listen - from family members to drive through attendants. Whether the joke landed perfectly or fell flat, Larry's subtle smile always made the moment memorable.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of nine years, Sonya (Cabana); his children, Edward (Angela), Gwendelyn, Christopher (Danielle), and Celia; his grandchildren, Sydney, Evelyn, Allison, and Casen; his brother, Dale; and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah; his daughters, Jessica and DeeAnn; and his parents, Melvin and Mary Lou.
