Leah Rae (Harris) McDavid, a deeply unselfish soul who dedicated her life to caring for her family and community, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and warmth.

Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Lake Worth, Texas 76135.

Born on August 27, 1950, in Roswell, New Mexico, to the late Norman W. Harris and Margaret I. Harris, Leah moved with her family to Fort Worth, Texas, in September 1960. She grew up in the area, graduating from Arlington Heights High School in 1968. She continued her education at Tarrant County Junior College (TCJC), where she pursued her passions by majoring in Spanish and Journalism.

Leah began her career working with a small newspaper company in White Settlement, Texas, utilizing her journalism skills. She later transitioned into healthcare administration, working first in a hospital business office before successfully managing numerous medical practices across various specialties. She concluded her professional journey and retired from ResiDental, respected by colleagues for her leadership and organizational expertise.

A woman of diverse talents and a giving heart, Leah was known as a fabulous cook who loved hosting parties and bringing people together. She was famously unselfish, finding immense joy in showering friends and family with the perfect gifts. Her dedication to youth and community was evident through her time as a Brownie troop leader and her active involvement in Rainbow Girls. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Leah is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Jerry McDavid, whom she married on April 14, 1972; her daughter, Hope Janzen of Burleson, Texas; her brother, Butch Harris of Salida, Colorado; and her sister, Nancy Heinz and husband, Joey of Benbrook, Texas; her beloved grandchildren, James Douglas V and Chloe Janzen of Burleson, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
