Lon Dale Nicol, 90, passed from this life Monday, April 27, 2026, at his home in Saginaw, Texas.
Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Biggers Funeral Home.
Graveside Service: 11:15 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
Lon was born September 11, 1935, in Wyaconda, Missouri, to the late Raymond Nicol and Violet (Goodman) Nicol.
He grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and carried that love throughout his life. Whether he was casting a line while fishing, walking the trails at the park, or settling in to watch a good game of golf, baseball, or football, Lon found joy in life's simple pleasures.
He proudly served his country and retired from the United States Army, a testament to his dedication and quiet strength. Lon later retired from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department, continuing a life defined by service, integrity, and reliability.
Lon was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Nicol; his children, Kathy Aucoin, Mary and husband, Jody Hofacker; grandchildren, Tasha and husband, Jeremy Warren, Wesley and wife, Kaela Hofacker, Dylan Hofacker, Morgan and husband, Kenji Jameel; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Amon.
Lon will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love for family, and the peaceful way he moved through the world. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly carried forward by all who knew him.
