Lou Eva Shelton, 81, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, July 14, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Saginaw Church of Christ officiated by Britt Farmer. A private burial is scheduled for a later time. Lou was born on December 14, 1935 in San Angelo, Texas, to Jake Williams and Viola Hodges. Ray and Lou were married August 13, 1961. She was a stay at home mom until 1982, when she went to work as a private duty nurse. She then worked with Hospice until retiring. She loved big band music and she played the piano incredibly. She also loved singing, dancing, making large home cooked meals for all her "kids", blingy jewelry, meeting new people, and the Dallas Cowboys. She was the most hospitable person and always welcomed company. Lous greatest blessing, however, was her family. She wanted all of her kids together, all the time, no matter the occasion. She loved being in the center of the chaos. The louder it became, the happier she was. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she always made it so special. She was quick to laugh, made others laugh, slow to anger, worked hard, taught us the importance of family, loved her Lord, was quick witted, and had the most gentle spirit. Theres not a person she met that didnt fall in love with her. She was our loudest cheerleader, our confidante, our biggest applauder, our sounding board, our best friend, and the one who loved each one of us the most. We knew that laughter and love was a guarantee with our mother. Lou fought a long, hard battle with kidney disease, as well as a multitude of other health issues, leaving many doctors perplexed at her strength. There were many times wed heard "she might not make it", only for her to bounce back surprising us all. Her warrior spirit was envious and her will to live unmatched. She truly lived for her family and will forever be our Wonder Woman. Our family would like to send a very special thank you to Dr. Theresa Brown, and her entire office staff, who went above and beyond for our precious mother, and fought along side our family, making the impossible possible many times. Also, to Kelly Hampton, Lous social worker with VITAS Palliative Care, the amount of love, caring, and patience you brought into our parents home is immeasurable. We love the way you love them. Nurse Practitioner, Hailey Brown, for your constant gentleness and sweet nature, making it easy for us to trust. Georgina Zamarripa, our mothers caregiver; she loved you like her own. Your presence immediately put our mother at ease every single time you walked through the door. Your tireless efforts at keeping her days pleasant and happy will never be forgotten. You are most definitely family and are loved immensely. To VITAS Hospice: Were so thankful for your part in making our mothers last days on this side of heaven comfortable. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake Williams and Viola Hodges and by her bonus sons, Ronnie Brown and Homer Cooper. She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Ray Shelton; their children, Melanie Cooper, Karla Brown, Kristi Galindo, Marcy Meiergerd, and Scott Shelton; bonus children, Dominick Galindo, Bob Meiergerd, Tammie Shelton, Michael Hall, and Kenneth Brown; nine grandkids, Whitney Brown, Tiffany Brown, Justin Cooper (Gina), Haylie Sikorski (James), Jake Galindo, Kendyl Brown, Bryce Shelton, Brayden Shelton and Kenzi Meiergerd; and five great- grandchildren with number six due in March.
