Mamie Jean Andrews, on Friday, May 24, 2013, fell asleep peacefully and awoke in the arms of the Lord. She was surrounded by her loving family who were by her side during her courageous battle with gallbladder cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Precious Faith Temple. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Biggers Funeral Home. Jean loved spending time with her family and loved being around kids. She was known as "Mom" at North Side High School where her daughters attended and was one of the favorite chaperones for many school trips. Later she was known as "Granny" to kids at Castleberry High School where her granddaughters attended. She volunteered in the concession stand for many years even after her grandkids graduated. She loved to crochet and made many afghans for every member of her family as well as her many friends. She was a longtime member of Precious Faith Temple. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Earl Ray Andrews; her parents, William and Adele Smith; and a sister, Becky Ray. She is survived by her son, Eugene Andrews and wife, Janice, of Spring; daughters, Darlene Hernandez and husband, Phillip, Vickie Frank and husband, Darrell, and Samantha Andrews, all of Fort Worth; she also leaves behind her sisters, Ollie Jones and husband, Billy, of Fort Worth and Marilyn Parsons and husband, Tom, of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
