Obituary

Marilyn Kay Nettles Walker, known affectionately to all who loved her as Kay, passed away Monday, October 12, 2026, at the age of 72.

Celebration of Life to celebrate Kay’s life and honor her memory: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Hidden Gardens, 8229 Jacksboro Highway, Lakeside, Texas 76135.

Born on September 18, 1954, in Beaufort, South Carolina, Kay brought warmth, kindness, and light into the lives of those around her. She was a resident of Aledo, Texas.

Kay had a passion for reading, she loved to indulge in daytime soaps, but her greatest joy in life was her family. Nothing meant more to her than spending quality time with those she held dear—especially her grandchildren, whom she loved cheering on and watching in their activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Walker; her father, James Nettles; and her brother, Steve Nettles.

Kay’s legacy lives on through her surviving family: her mother, Jean Nettles of Lake Worth, Texas; her son, Jamie Kropka and his wife, Kim of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her daughter, Katherine Kropka of Aledo, Texas; her three cherished grandchildren, Jordan Kropka, Jacob Kropka, and Sophie Kropka; her sister, Jackie Galatas; and her brothers, David Nettles and his wife, Tanya, and Scott Nettles and his wife, Samantha. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
