Obituary

Mark Melvyn Podell, born April 15, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, peacefully crossed over and entered his eternal home in Heaven at 11:04 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He passed away at his home in Boyd, Texas, surrounded by his devoted family.

Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Biggers Funeral Home in Lake Worth, Texas.

For most of his life, Mark resided in the White Settlement and Fort Worth areas. He proudly graduated from Brewer High School as a member of the Class of 1973. Mark dedicated 26 years of faithful service to Bell Helicopter, retiring in 2017. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and integrity were evident throughout his career.

In retirement, Mark fully embraced life as a devoted husband and family man. He treasured every moment spent with Cathy—whether cooking together, traveling, attending their favorite concerts, or relaxing at home with his dog, Bella, curled up on his lap while watching their favorite teams.

A cowboy at heart, Mark was an avid horseman who poured his passion into riding and caring for his beloved horses, Emma and Annie. He was actively involved in the National Association of Riding Clubs & Sheriff's Posses, the American Association of Sheriff's Posses & Riding Clubs, the Joshua Saddle Club, and the Weatherford Comancheros Riding Club.

Mark was also a proud Mason and a member of White Settlement Masonic Lodge #1372, where he valued brotherhood, service, and tradition.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Podell of Boyd, Texas; a proud and loving father to his son, Mark Podell Jr. and wife, Janice of Angel Fire, New Mexico, and his daughter, Carlie Hughes and husband, Brandon of Wallkill, New York; a devoted stepfather to Stacia Short and husband, Ron of Fort Worth, Texas; Mindi Orth and husband, Jeff of Dripping Springs, Texas; Nikki Marquardt-Demen and husband, Ro of Yokota Air Base, Japan; and Tyler Marquardt of Fort Worth, Texas—each of whom he loved as his own; his brother, Rand Podell and wife, Linda of Fort Worth, Texas, and his sister, Lori Hatcher and husband, Gene of White Settlement, Texas; blessed with ten cherished grandchildren, Mia, Peyton, Mattix, Miles, Clay, Maddie Ann, Devin, Jake, Kylie, and Rainer; two precious great-granddaughters, Gwen and Marceline, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvyn Podell, and his mother, Muriel Kevil, both of Fort Worth, Texas.

Mark Melvyn Podell will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his steadfast loyalty, his generous heart, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the love he leaves behind.
