Marvin W. Roland, Jr. peacefully joined his Lord in heaven on May 18, 2018 at home in Fort Worth at the age of 93. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Biggers Funeral Home. Interment: 2 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery with Military Honors. Marvin was born March 15, 1925 in Grandview. He married Doc Marie (Allen) Roland on December 11, 1942, prior to joining the US Army at age 18. Marvin was a member of the 45th Infantry Thunderbird Division of the United States Army. He was captured during the Battle of Anzio in Italy where he was a POW until released at the conclusion of WWII. Marvin graduated from Texas Wesleyan with a major in accounting and began work for the IRS while continuing to work for Mrs. Baird's Bakery. Marvin later entered public accounting and worked for many years until retirement from Ernst and Young. At age 70, Marvin was introduced to Quinclyn Adams Hillier by his longtime friend, Judge Matthews. Marvin and Quincy were married on May 5, 1996. They were active in their church, enjoyed traveling, spending time with their families and making lasting memories together. Marvin enjoyed golf, sports, fishing, his dogs and playing dominoes. He was a humble, dedicated, generous, kind-hearted and devoted family man that held a strong sense of commitment and devotion to his country and his family. Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Doc Marie Roland; his parents, Marvin W. and Minnie Mae (Martin) Roland; his brother, Billy R. Roland; his step-mother Dulcie Roland; and step-sisters, Juanita Berger and Ernestine Kapalski. Survivors: His loving wife of 22 years, Quinclyn Adams Roland; his children with Doc Marie Roland, Gay Taber and husband, John, Janie Wilkerson and husband, Douglas and Wesley Roland and wife, Brenda; Quincy's children, Stephanie Williams and husband, Gary, Lisha Butler and husband, Curtis, and Reagan Hillier; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
