Mary Nell Coston Manning, 93, passed away from her life on earth, Wednesday, May 7, 2025. She was surrounded by her devoted daughter, Brenda Manning Ornelas, her two beloved nieces, Carolyn Ruth Coston Seljos, Donna Kay Coston Crowley, her two adopted grandchildren, Alberto Palma and Heather Soto, and her dedicated Hospice nurse, Tara.

Committal: 10:15 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025 in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m., Monday June 16, 2025 at  Heather's Old Skool Village.

Mary was born November 5, 1931, in Hamilton County to Ernest and Ida Coston. She was the third child and the only daughter.  Seven years later, another baby brother was born.  Mary adored all her brothers, Charles, Ches, and Earl.  Since Earl was the baby, she thought it was her job to raise him along with her mother.

Her family had very little material things, and they worked in the fields to put food on the table.  What they lacked in money, they had in integrity, love, and compassion for all they encountered.

Mary married the love of her life in 1949.  They had moved from the tiny community of Evant, Texas to the big city of Fort Worth.  L.H. worked for Consolidated and Mary worked for Montgomery Wards.  Her job was to pull orders all while wearing roller skates.  She loved to tell stories about working there, especially when Brenda would take her shopping in the 7th Street area.

In 1954, Mary gave birth to their only child, Brenda Lois.  L.H. and Mary often laughed when the doctor commented that it was the first time he had delivered a baby and a television!  Both L. H. and Mary devoted their lives to God, each other, and Brenda.

Mary was a lady of courage, strength, and grace.  Her entire life, she was devoted to her family.

Her loving husband, L.H. Manning, of 67 years preceded her in death in 2015.  At that time, she and Brenda moved in together and worked side-by-side and passionately to establish Heather's Old Skool Village.

Mary had many challenges in her life; each one, she met with unwavering strength, a gentle spirit, and grace.  She was never afraid of what she faced, and it was contagious to those around her.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Brenda, her nieces and nephews, friends, and coworkers, will always cherish the lessons she taught with unspoken words.
