Mary Alline Hammett Slate, 89, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, April 24, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mary Alline Hammett was born in Dallas on September 9, 1927 to William and Sallie Hammett. She married her childhood sweetheart, Claud Morgan Slate, on December 27, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1999 after 56 years of marriage. She was loved by many and has left her mark of endearment on all that she came in contact with during her 89 years of life. Survivors include her children, Patricia Wisdom and husband, Alton, Jo Ann Van Aelst, Mary Neathery, Claud Hassel Slate and wife, Carol, Darlene Crossett and husband, Steve; 16 grandchildren, 51 great- grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
