Mary Ellen Smith, 74, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Graveside: 11 a.m. Saturday in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home. Mary was born March 3, 1946 in Wise County to the late Archie and Johnnie Drain. She was a lifelong resident of Wise and Tarrant counties. Mary retired from the Fort Worth Star Telegram after over 20 years of service. She never met a stranger and people naturally gravitated towards her. Mary was kind- hearted and a good listener. She was always there to give words of encouragement to anyone she knew. Mary would send handmade cards to family and friends just to brighten their day. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis H. Smith; her parents; siblings, Lucille Cooksey, Archie Drain, Thomas Drain, and Ernest Drain; and son-in-law Gerald Shuey. Survivors: Children, Kevin Smith, Kelly Smith (Tiffany), Shelly Shaut (Ron), and Scottie Shuey; grandchildren, Balee Salinas (Randy), Ryan Ingram (Heather), Brandon and Amber Shuey, Christopher and Caleb Smith, Miranda and Chris Shaut; great-grandchildren, Chastin and Rylee Salinas, Aria Ingram, and Anaya Shaut; sister, Carrie Huschke (Leon); sister-in-law, Linda Drain; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
