Marzella Stevens, age 103, passed from this life on September 2, 2023.

Marzella Springfield Stevens was born in Reno, Texas, August 7, 1920. She is the second child of ten children born to Jesse James and Thelma Etta Springfield. She was brought up on the farm in Springtown, Texas and helped to raise her siblings. On May 5, 1939, she married William Henry "Bill" Stevens and had one daughter, Carmelita Stevens Shepelwich.

During WWII, she worked as a riveter at General Dynamics building airplanes for the war effort. She also worked many years for printing companies in Fort Worth. Marzella was very active in her local communities, PTA, and church. She was known for cooking big pots of red beans or vegetable soup and sharing with her neighbors, family, and friends. For many years, she and her friends met every week for a sewing circle where they created beautiful textiles, traveled, celebrated together and shared stories about their families.

She and William traveled throughout the West in their VW Volkswagen camper seeing beautiful country. William was a history buff about the West and knew just where to go and what was coming up on the horizon. They were often joined by Marzella's sister Johnnie and husband Alex who also drove a camper. Good times and many good memories.

Marzella also traveled and toured with her Aunt Ollie Nunn to Hawaii. Together they also enjoyed a trip to Germany to see Christ's life portrayed on the stage at Oberammergau Passion Play. The first performance took place in 1634 and is performed by villagers every 10 years.

She always kept an open door and loved to visit with friends and family. She never met a stranger and effortlessly maintained life-long friendships. For her 99th birthday, she received well over a hundred birthday cards from friends she made all around the country: a testament to her open spirit and lasting relationships. She was honored with a drive through celebration with family and friends on her 100th birthday.

Marzella was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Stevens, and son-in-law,

Ronald Wayne Shepelwich.

She is survived by her daughter, Carmelita Shepelwich of Fort Worth; grandson, Steven Shepelwich and wife, Inger Giuffrida; great grandson, Sam Shepelwich and great granddaughter, Sofia Shepelwich of Norman, OK; granddaughter, Diane Shepelwich and husband, Ric Camp of Arlington, TX.
