Maudie Mae Moss, aged 85 of Haslet, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was healed and ushered into her heavenly home on her beloved husband, Leon's birthday, offering comfort to those she left behind that their reunion on such a special day was a testament to God's plan and the unbreakable bonds of love.

Service: 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2024 in Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76135 with Dustin Allison officiating.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Biggers Funeral Home.

Maudie was born on August 31, 1939 to Howell and Mae McCoy in Whitesboro, Texas. Her childhood growing up on a dairy farm cultivated her strong work ethic and resourcefulness that perfectly prepared her for life as a rancher's wife. When a tall, handsome cowboy in Whitesboro caught her eye, it was love at first sight for both and neither felt the need to postpone the wedding. Just days after meeting, Maudie Mae McCoy and Leon C. Moss were married on August 16, 1955, and soon thereafter they moved to Haslet, Texas to begin their life together. Though their courtship was a whirlwind, their marriage became an enduring testament to devotion that spanned over 67 years. Together, Leon and Maudie built a life abundantly blessed with love raising 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Maudie was the pillar of her large family that was truly her pride and joy! She was a devoted mother and her life's work was raising kids - both her own and others whom she loved as her own. Her childcare career spanned generations and when grandkids came along, she was known as "Memaw" to many, sharing her maternal warmth and wisdom to both family and an extended circle of friends. Memaw cherished each child in her care, pouring an abundance of love, kindness, discipline, and guidance into their lives. Her influence shaped countless children into the adults they would become, leaving a lasting legacy both within and beyond the Moss family.

Maudie created a home that was a sanctuary of comfort and hospitality, where family and friends gathered over meals, she lovingly prepared to create memories that will be cherished forever! She was an amazing cook and those at her table were treated to culinary delights you could never fully recreate because she never followed a recipe but whether you savored her comforting soup, freshly cooked pot of red beans and cornbread, decadent chocolate pudding, a slice of coconut cake, piping hot fried pie, or a scratch made biscuit, you could always taste the secret ingredient: her love! She enjoyed feeding a crowd and without notice could stretch even simple ingredients into a meal that would feed multitudes. It wasn't uncommon on holidays or a Sunday lunch for her farmhouse kitchen to be overflowing with guests that always left her table with their hearts and bellies full.

Maudie was an incredible woman that impacted so many and her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. With her servant's heart and solid faith, she was a blessing and steadfast example to so many who admired her strength and grace. Even amidst life's storms, she was our rock, anchoring our family with her peace, poise and perseverance drawn from the firm foundation she had in Christ. Though she will be greatly missed, her inspiration, love and guidance will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her until we meet again!

Maudie is survived by her six children, Danny R. Moss and wife, Sherri, Betty Raley and husband, Randy, Judy Reid and husband, Mickey, Carl Moss, Diane Young and husband, Mark, Loyce Ann Rogers and husband, Eddie; 14 grandchildren, Brandi Allison, Jennifer Pegues, Melissa Carnley, Travis Reid, Brittany Roberts, Jason Moss, Joey Raley, Kasie Moffett, Amy Moreland, Colton Bilbrey, Caitlin Batterton, Holly Rogers, Hannah Rogers and Hagen Rogers; 22 great-grandchildren, Austin and Aubrey Allison, Alyssa, Avery and Brentlee Pegues, Gracie Dickey, Dashal, Collins and Yale Reid, Cohen Robbins, McCoy Roberts, Deacon, Peyton, Jordyn Raley, Kimber and Luke Moss, Mazie and Joy Moffett, Micah and McCrae Moreland, Easton Hogan and Whitley Batterton; her sister, Betty Knight; sisters-in-law, Ruth Kime, Ann Moss, Ernestine Douglas and husband, Leo, Annie Sisler and husband, Jerry; brothers-in law, Wayne Moss and Charles Canady; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Maudie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Leon C. Moss; her parents, Howell and Lillie Mae McCoy; her brothers, Bill McCoy, Gene McCoy, sisters, Capitola Enoch, Gwen Hightower, Leahnette Scott, JoAnn Terry, Shirley Canady and her daughter-in-law, Kelly Moss.
