Melinda Karen Carter, age 55, passed from this life on Thursday, October 12, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Lake Worth, Texas 76135.

Melinda was born July 28, 1968 in Hollis, Oklahoma to parents Gary and Cheri Caldwell Ginn. She spent most of her childhood in Paoli, OK and graduated from Paul's Valley High School in 1985. Melinda attended the University of Oklahoma for two years and ultimately graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Melinda had two children in 1990 and 1992 and spent her 20's and 30's between Oklahoma and Texas raising them and pursuing a career in computer science; a field she was a minority in as a woman in the early years.

In October 2006 Melinda married her husband, John Carter, and they built a life together in Fort Worth, TX. She loved to travel with John and her family and spent the last few years focused on making memories with them whenever possible. Never one to fit the mold, she loved Halloween, cars, cats, art, music, and was a hockey fan before it was cool. She picked up many hobbies through the years but always loved to paint, draw, and garden.

Melinda was a loving mother and grandmother and loved her grandkids more than anything.

She is survived by her husband, John Carter; mother, Cheri Harrison; daughter, Samantha Longoria; son, Jason Richardson; and grandkids, Anthony and Ellie who will all miss her intensely.
