Obituary

Melinda Luzius, age 76, of Glendale Arizona, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the Peoria Acute Care & Rehab, Peoria Arizona.

Graveside: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, Bourland Cemetery, Keller, Texas.

Melinda was born in Springfield, Ohio, February 14, 1949 and graduated from Springfield South High School in 1967. She won an award in high school for cooking, and also enjoyed crocheting and various other crafts. She was the first born of three children. Before Melinda met Roy, she was a single mother who often worked three jobs to support herself and her son, Michael.

As she was going up she and the family loved going to Sandusky, Ohio where they enjoyed activities along the shores of Lake Erie. Melinda was a big fan of Elvis Presley like so many others at her age. As a teenager she worked various office and secretarial jobs. She became the head bookkeeper at one of Springfield's large stores. Her devotion to caring for the sick led her to becoming a Candy Stripper and eventually she became a license LPN and preferred caring for the Geriatric patients. Her last position was a charge nurse on the third shift at nursing home where she worked.

Melinda married Leroy James Luzius on July 9, 1988 in Dayton, Ohio. They would spend summers boating on Lake Cumberland Kentucky and in the fall they would visit Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. They eventually moved to Glendale, Arizona in 2015. Roy and Linda enjoyed travels to Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. They also would frequent local reparatory theaters and traveling to see the musical group (the Lettermen). Attending in excess of 90 Lettermen concerts over 40 plus years.

Melinda was preceded in death by her father, Melvin; mother, Norma; brother, James; sister, Lisa Music and adopted brother, Stephen.

Melinda is survived by her husband, Roy; son, Michael Blank; Stepsons, Phil and wife, Mindy, Wayne and wife, Molly and Ken and wife, Ali; grandchildren, Josh, Nicole, Justin, Ashton, Brendan; step-grandchildren, Andrew, Katie, Lydia and Emily Schellin and "Numerous" great grandchildren.
