Norman L. Barber, 75, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 with his family at his side. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Thursday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 6 - 8 pm Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Home. Interment: Dido Cemetery.
Norman was born July 6, 1942 in Bridgeport. He was one of 10 children born to the late Noble and Mary (Riggs) Barber. Norman was a resident of Saginaw and spent his lifetime in the Fort Worth area. He retired from Gifford Hill where he worked as Chief Dispatcher.
Dad was one of life's treasures, a leader and the absolute rock of our family. He was larger than life, not only in stature but in strength. His way of measuring a man was by his handshake. Many a man tried, but all failed at their attempts in taking on Dad's grip.
Dad was a wise man. His advice was like bits of gold sought out by friends and family alike. Always thought out with inspection and came with a touch of life's seasoning.
Dad's quick wit, humor and sarcasm were remarkable. With it he spared no one. He was full of sayings that both young and old could relate to. Each truism was so unique and memorable that all written down would fill a book.
Dad had a faultless memory for direction. He never forgot a route or a location. And, if you traveled those same routes, his recall was necessary to complete your journey.
Our Dad's life has forever changed us. In his death, we will always miss him. But, we rejoice knowing fully that he has joined his parents, his sisters, Jeanetta and Judy, his brother, Jerry, and many relatives and friends in Glory.
