Norman J. "Jack" Mellott, 84, a Saginaw resident for over 40 years, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Biggers Funeral Chapel followed by a reception at the home of his son. Dr. Alfie Wines will officiate. Private interment will be Friday in Saginaw Cemetery.
Mr. Mellott served in the United States Air Force in the Air Police from 1951 to 1953. He graduated from Tri State College in Angola, Indiana, with a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering and retired from General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin after 38 years of service.
Jack married Diane M. Slaats on September 23, 1961, in Dubuque, Iowa. They were married for 52 wonderful years and were lifelong companions who did everything together. "Its us against the world" was their motto.
Jack was a generous soul who supported many local charities. He enjoyed golf and frequent breakfast meetings with his friends who will miss him dearly. He loved sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his wife, Diane S. Mellott; son, Chuck Mellott and wife, Lisa, of Fort Worth; sisters, Dorothy Jean Pike, Norma Ott and Shirley Guthrie, all of McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania; grandson, Nick Mellott; granddaughter, Lauren Mellott; and a number of nieces and nephews.
