Rebecca Esst passed away on New Years Eve, Wednesday, December 31, 2014.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Veal Station Cemetery in Parker County. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Born New Years Day 1940 in Wise County, Rebecca touched many lives. After receiving bachelors and masters degrees from North Texas State University, Rebecca taught fifth grade at Shady Oaks Elementary in Hurst for 35 years. After retirement, she shared her love of quilting with others, teaching several quilting classes. Retirement also brought the opportunity for travel. Recently she returned from a trip to Ireland. It is thought that Rebecca possessed the "gift of eloquence" even before kissing the Blarney Stone.
She was preceded in death by Ernest Esst Jr., her husband of 49 years.
Rebecca is survived by her son, John D. Esst; grandchildren, Jennifer Esst, William Womack Jr. and Jessica Womack; great-grandchild, Brooklyn Goins; and sister, Wanda Putman.
