Richard William Day, age 78, of Fort Worth Texas, our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, with his loving wife, Arie Gail Day, and daughter, Desiree Nicole Day, by his side.
Interment: 11:00 am, Friday, April 12, 2024, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Celebration of His Life: 4:00 pm, Friday, April 12, 2024, La Roca Baptist Church, 6300 South Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas.
Richard was the third oldest child of five children born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 09, 1945 to Robert Day and Margaret Patrick. He attended and graduated Arlington Heights High School in 1966. Shortly after graduating, he had his first child, Rick Lee Day, before he was drafted into the Vietnam War in 1967 where he served 2 years in The Tet Offensive.
After returning home from the Vietnam War, he met the love of his life, his soulmate, Arie Gail Day. They were married for forty-seven years and raised two children together and brought one beautiful daughter into this world.
Richard worked for the FWISD as a school bus driver for 16 years before he retired and spent most of his days spending quality time with his family grilling and smoking briskets, working on cars, exploring new eateries, going on long drives around Texas with his wife by his side. Throughout the years of his life, Richard made many happy memories with his children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He loved many things in life, including his beautiful wife, his gorgeous family, and his three beloved pets. We are blessed to have such an amazing man in our lives, and he will be greatly missed.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Day and Margaret Patrick of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Bo-Bo Day; sister, Janie Kimbell; brother, James Kimbell; and brother-in-law, J.W. Claridge.
He is survived by his wife, Arie Gail Day; one sister, Linda Claridge; four children, Rick Lee Day, Leia Lawanna Dorow and spouse, Troy, Mark Curdall Burran and Desiree Nicole Day; three grandkids, John Day and his wife and children, Kesler DeRuyter & spouse, Samantha and children, and Kyle DeRuyter; three pets, two cats, Nala and Mister and one dog, Tobi.
