Richard A. Martin, 78, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Rich was born on December 14, 1946, to Helen Miller and Eugene Martin in Copiague, New York. He met his wife Janet on a blind date in1964 and later married in March of 1969.

He joined the Air Force in 1964 and left active duty as Staff Sergent in 1968 and then received an Associate of Science Degree from Suffolk County Community College in 1976.

Rich became a lineman for NY Telephone Company in 1969, eventually transferring to Pacific NW Bell in Oregon in 1978. He eventually started building cell sites in Washington with his son Richard W Martin. Upon completing the assigned cell sites, he then worked in Portland as an Engineer for US West. Retiring from Qwest in 1997, then did construction on his own doing remodeling and other projects.

Rich became a Mason in 1997 in Tigard, OR. He loved the brotherhood and what they did for others and the community. He held many positions in Masonry including Master for Tigard Lodge and Enlightenment Lodge (Portland) and received the highest honor in 2011 becoming the Grand Master of Oregon.  He is currently a member of Lake Worth Lodge #1410, A.F. & A.M. in Lake Worth. His travels took him to many cities, states and countries.

He was also a member of Al Kader Shrine in Wilsonville, Oregon which he served as a member of the Motor Escort.

Rich was also a member of AA for 41 years and loved helping and working with others on their road to sobriety.

Rich was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie who passed at the age of 24 in 1997 and his brother, Robert Martin, age 70 in 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter, Janet Joy (David) of Portland, Oregon; son, Richard W Martin (Paige); five grandchildren, Katrina (Tommy), Devyn, Allison, Milo and Holly; brothers, Gene (Arlene), Timothy (Evett) and Kenneth; and his loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at a later date in Oregon.
