Obituary

Robert L. Graham of Azle, Texas passed away at the age of 91 on September 30, 2023, surrounded by his loving and dedicated family. As he did his entire life up until his final moments, Robert brought comfort to everyone around him through his unwavering sense of humor and brilliant smile.

Service: 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76135.

Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park following the Service.

Visitation: 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Saturday, prior to the Service.

Robert was born to Lee and Thula Graham in 1932 in Pinedale, Mississippi. Soon after graduating from high school, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee and married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Wise. There he began his career with Memphis Light Gas and Water. Robert retired after 30 + years. In 2006, they retired to Azle, Texas to be closer to their family.

In earlier years, Robert was an avid deer hunter. Although he never made a kill, he relished the comradery with many close friends. In the summer months, he delighted in taking the family camping and water skiing. On weekends he would load the car and boat, and head for the nearest lake to set up camp with friends. Amidst all that joy, Robert never lost site that safety was always paramount, to ensure everyone returned home safely from the weekend adventures, from handling of guns to respecting our waterways.

In addition to a love of nature and friends, Robert and Hazel shared a passion for ballroom dancing. Robert loved the sound of the Big Band era, light on his feet as he maneuvered with grace. Dancing everything from the Waltz to the Swing accompanied by his wife Hazel. They traveled the country with many friends, listening to the sounds of Big Band, and adorning the dance floor of many notable ballrooms. These are by far some of his fondest memories with his wife Hazel.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Hazel of 73 wonderful years; his two loving children, Robert Graham and wife, Anita of Colleyville, Texas and Sandy Taylor and husband, Brad of Chandler, Arizona. He is also a loving grandfather to Rob Graham, Nick Graham and Kristin Graham. Robert leaves three great grandchildren, Robert Josiah Graham, Jacob Ryker Graham and Olivia Leigh Graham; and his only brother Darrell Graham of Collierville, Tennessee.
