Roger Dale Bruce, Sr. 69, a CDL Truck Driver for Smurfit Kappa (Bates Container) for 28 years passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 while surrounded by his loved ones. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Biggers Funeral Chapel. Committal with Military Honors: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 12 Noon until service time. Roger Dale Bruce was born June 19, 1949 in Reedley California. His family moved to Lake Worth where he graduated from Lake Worth High School. He joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Roger was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars as well as a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Marksman Medal. Roger was a loving husband with a heart of gold. He was known as "Pops" to all the grandchildren. His Special Love "Lou Lou" was Pops Sidekick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl E. and Edth Smith Bruce. Survivors include his wife, Sally; son, Roger Dale Bruce, Jr.; step-daughter, Connie Barksdale and husband Danny; step-son, Chris Parris and wife Joann; a number of loving grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Addilou King and husband Jerry; brothers, Wayne Bruce, Paul and wife Kathy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
