Roger Chadwick Howard, age 89, peacefully passed from this life Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2026, Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Lake Worth, Texas 76135.

Roger was born on May 25, 1937, in the Ohio River town of Portsmouth, Ohio, to Albert and Erma Lea (McCann) Howard. He grew up in Portsmouth and attended the local school system. At the tender age of seven, Roger accepted Jesus as his Savior—a foundational moment that shaped the rest of his life. Guided by his deep faith, he later attended seminary school in Ohio with the intention of becoming a preacher. Though circumstances ultimately altered that path, his devotion to spreading the Word of the Lord never wavered.
Roger learned the value of hard work early in life as a dedicated paperboy, earning the appreciation of his Portsmouth customers for his excellent service. He later built a long and successful career with the Columbus Dispatch Newspaper, working faithfully in the material handling department for 39 years until his retirement on May 28, 1999.
Roger and his late wife, Marsha, shared a beautiful life blending their families before her passing in September 2004. In January 2005, Roger joined the Obetz United Methodist Church, where he eagerly poured his heart into the choir and local theater. He loved participating in Easter Passion Plays to share his faith.
It was during these play practices that God brought Roger and Ellen Mills together. Their shared love for the Lord sparked a beautiful romance, and they were married on August 20, 2005. In November of that year, they moved to Texas, making Fort Worth their home for the next two decades.
Roger was preceded in death by, his parents, Albert and Erma Lea Howard; second wife, Marsha Howard; his daughter, Justine; and his stepdaughter, Tabitha Mills-Lee.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Howard; sons, Chad Howard and wife, Rachel, Stephen Howard and wife, Dee; daughters, Tammy Hupp and husband, Darin, Lisa Lamalmi, Louanne Reiser, Renee Fought and husband, Wayne, Paula Clay and Mike, and Ricky Mills; numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roger will be truly missed and loved by all who knew him.
Rest in Peace in God’s Arms.
