Roy Lester Raymond, age 74, passed on to his reward in heaven on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
Graveside service with military honors: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
He was born in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1943. Roy proudly served in the United States Army in the 1960s. He also worked for the U.S. State Department and was stationed in Australia during the years of the war in Vietnam as a coding and decoding specialist. He also worked and traveled all across Europe. He graduated with a degree in Sociology from Abilene Christian University in 1972. Several years later, he returned to Abilene Christian and received a degree in Accounting. He was an office manager in several Texas cities and retired in 2000.
Roy was a member of the Saginaw Church of Christ and was a voracious reader of books, seeking to learn everything he could about all subjects. Roy was a quiet and humble man who was truly a gentlemans gentleman.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bette Sue Raymond, whom he met at Abilene Christian; his brother, Ray, and wife, Sharon of Carthage, Tennessee; his brother, Jimmy, and wife, Debbie of Biloxi, Mississippi.; his brother, David, and wife, Elsie also of Biloxi; and his sister, Janey, of Niceville, Florida.
