Sammy graduated from Haltom High School in 1973. After high school he immediately started working for Tarrant County as part of the Road Construction and Maintenance Division in Precinct #3. He started at the bottom of the ranks spreading asphalt behind the heavy equip until they worked their way up to the top. Sammy would retire on March 1, 2014 as Assistant Director of Field Operations. Sammy loved to work all heavy machinery within the road department, he would talk about how much he enjoyed that part of the work up until he retired. He was a very well respected and loved member of the County employees. He was honored in 2014 for his 43 years of service to the country. He was a very loyal man and father. When Sammy was a young man, he loved to spend time with his grandfather, Samuel Schooler, who owned several cleaners in Haltom and Fort Worth. There he learned how to be a handyman and fix anything. He also developed a love for deer hunting with his family. Sammy, his grandfather, and brother Richard Teal would always go to Sanderson Co and bring back many mule deer. He would pass down this love of outdoors to his family and spend many weekends with his family hunting and camping in N Texas. Sammy met his wife Donna Stephens of Haltom City in 1975 and they were married on May 1, 1976. He was such a loving and faithful father and husband. He loved to take care and be with his wife all the way to the end. They would go on road trips together in retirement. Sammy also loved sports and music. He would spend many hours coaching his kids through the years sitting on a bucket catching his son and daughter as they practiced their pitching. He loved to coach and teach and would spend many years at the ballfields helping set up fields and manage leagues. Sammy learned to play guitar from his father, Red Teal, and passed down his love of music to his kids. He would love to attend and watch his kids and grandkids perform in concerts. Sammy passed on March 8, 2021 in north Fort Worth from complications with COVID. He was a Godly man of integrity and would always work to do the right thing. Family and Friends could see his love for God and how he led by example. We are joyous to know he is with his Lord and Healed by the Father! He is preceded in Death by his father JL 'Red' Teal and his brother Richard Teal. He is survived by his wife, Donna Teal of Fort Worth; 3 children: Gregg and Tricia Teal of Arlington, Jaime and Austin Butler of Rhome, and Samuel and Erin Teal of Glen Rose. He had 8 grandchildren: Noah, Alina, Noble, Caroline, Mattie, Caden, Brooklyn, and Lilyan; his mother, Evelyn Teal of Springtown; His Sister, Ann and Fred Eustace of N Richland Hills; sister, Lisa White of Fort Worth and sister in law Dana Teal of Saginaw.
