Shane Vaughn, beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017, at the funeral home. Interment: Springtown Cemetery. Jane Vaughn. The family resided in Houston, moving to Hurst in 1975, then, eventually moving in 1979 to their permanent home in Springtown. Shane attended school in Springtown, graduating from Springtown High School in 1988. After blowing his first attempt at college due to "partying", Shane joined the U.S. Navy in 1990, where he was trained as an electrician. He served aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, CV-63. After discharge, Shane parlayed his training as an electrician into a career as a scale technician and electro-mechanical technician. After too many summers working out in the hot Texas sun, Shane decided it was time for a life change, and began attending college part time on the G.I. Bill, earning his Bachelors in Business-Accounting. Not quite satisfied, Shane continued on, graduating from Texas Wesleyan Law School in May 2007. After passing the Bar, Shane had a short stint in private practice before joining the Social Security Administration as an Attorney-Adviser where he continued to work until his death. Shane was proud to be a Freemason and was an active endowed member in Azle Lodge #601, his home lodge, and Joplin Lodge #939. Shane was a Past Master in both lodges and an active member of the 89th District. He traveled the State in pursuit of Masonic Education. In 2017, Shane was humbled and honored to be appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the 89th District. He continued to be active and serve as an officer in his lodges until his illness prevented him from performing his duties. He was preceded in death by his aunts, Polly Thompson and Jackie Sauer; and his best friend, Chris Alcamo. Survivors: He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn; daughter, Alexandra "Allie"; son, Zachary Bersuch; father, Orville; mother, Jane; sister, and brother-in-law, Tonya and Chad Bowles; nephews, Colton, Quentin, Liam, and Noah; cousin, John Russell; "second family", the Betancourt/Jacobson Clan; friends, and his whole beloved Masonic family.
