Sherry Ann Burke, age 76, fell asleep on the evening of Thursday, November 20, 2025. When she awoke, she was in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She found herself in her Heavenly home, where she was joyfully reunited with husband Sam and other loved ones who had arrived before her.

Service:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park following service.

Visitation: 1:00 pm, Wednesday, prior to service, Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Sherry was born on June 14, 1949, in Amherst, Texas, the firstborn child of Thomas Clark (T.C.) and Wilma Laverne Barlow. The Barlow family was present for the birth, but Wilma had to inform her mother by letter that she had given birth to a beautiful baby girl.

After a few years, Sherry and her family, along with little sister, Teresa, moved from Earth to Dumas, then to Littlefield, where Sherry attended her first year of school. She had a little dog named Blackie, who sat at the corner every school day waiting for her return. The family later moved to Amarillo, where brother, Tim was born, and the family home was established.

At a young age, Sherry made a public profession of her faith in Jesus Christ, and she was baptized at South Lawn Baptist Church. It was Sherry's faith in God that sustained her throughout her life. In her later years she often declared how good and faithful God had always been. He was her "refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Sherry was looking forward to her forever home with Him.

Sherry was never one to just sit back and watch life happen. She made life happen. She married at a young age, and in quick order, gave birth to three children: Karla, Thomas, and Ernie. Those three kids and the ever-fruitful family tree have been her source of blessing and Nana's main reason for living.

To help provide for her family, Sherry went back to school to become a nurse. Her mother made her a maternity uniform to match the Amarillo College brand. (A doctor watching her carry a tray suggested that Ernie might be born with a flat head.) Sherry pursued other professions, including a long and successful career at the USPS, which relocated her and her family to Fort Worth, Texas, where she lived all her remaining years. With a head for numbers, she worked in various financial offices. Then in later years, she returned to nursing. Her love and compassion for her elderly patients were characteristic of Sherry's giving nature.

Nana's love language was giving. She gave to her family, her patients, her friends. She gave because she loved. She gave of her time, her money, her home, her heart. She gave without expecting applause or anything in return. What a good and faithful servant she was!

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Burke; her parents, Wilma and T.C. Barlow; her maternal and paternal grandparents; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. What a grand reunion she's experiencing today!

There are many survivors who are missing Sherry today: daughter, Karla Jean Hodges and Craig; sons, Thomas Wilson Reagan and Ernest Lee Reagan; sister, Teresa Jean Anderson and Dennis; brother, Timothy Clark Barlow; grandchildren: Tyson Dennis and Amy, Amber Harbor and Justin, Blake Cross, Brooke Reagan, Morgan Andrus and Garrett, Makayla Reagan, and Ernest Reagan; great-grandchildren, Zoey, T.C., Makaela, Zaleigh, Skylar, Riley, Ariel, Aria, and one great-granddaughter on-the-way.

Here is a message from Nana to all her grieving loved ones, words borrowed from Jesus as He comforted His disciples: "Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am."

"I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN!"
