Shirley was born October 28, 1937 in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama to the late Lewey and Frances Norwood. Serving more than 35 years as a Federal Civil Service Employee, Shirley received numerous awards.  After retirement, Shirley, the cherished bride of James Hubbard, moved to Texas in 1995 to be closer to their granddaughter, Crista and family.  Shirley enjoyed church and writing poetry since a young girl.

Graciously, Shirley contributed generously to Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Associations, and faithfully gave with gratitude to her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days.

She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, and will always be remembered for her keen sense of orderliness, ability to remain calm in tense situations, all combined with her quick wit.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Jenita Guthrie and husband, Michael Guthrie with children, Crista, and Andy; son, Mark Hubbard and wife Jennifer, with children, David Hubbard, Sarah Hubbard, and Kevin Irelan; daughter, Kathleen Murray with children, Scott, Cindy, Mary, James, Michael, Duane and Caleb.  Shirley is also survived by an older sister, Anne Warren, and two younger brothers, Claude and Phillip Norwood.

Shirley's husband of 62 years, James Rowland Hubbard, preceded her in death in 2019.

Memorials in lieu of flowers: In recognition of Shirley's 33-year struggle with Parkinson's disease, we request contributions be made to Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinson.org) in Shirley's honor.
