Steve had an undeniable love for his family as a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and his warmth, humor and generous spirit that touched the lives of many.
Throughout his working life, Steve was a skilled welder and a top-performing salesperson. For those who knew him best, he was an avid New York Giants and Boston Red Sox fan and a devoted wrestling fan, never missing a WWF, MMA or UFC event. Most of all he loved spending quality time on his customized Harley-Davidson Road King. He especially enjoyed the years he rode to Laconia with his Dad and two brothers. He loved country-western music, enjoyed singing, dancing and playing his guitar. He also had a true passion for good food and was, without question, a foodie extraordinaire. He loved sharing meals, music, laughter, and good times with the people around him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kimberly Kay; son, Nathan Kay; his former wife, Catherin Kay; his grandchildren, Nathan Kay Jr., Mikayla Kay and his stepchildren, Jaclyn Borland and Jacob Borland . He is also survived by his brother, Robert Kay and wife, Deborah; sister, Maryann Wall; sister-in-law, Donna Kay; niece, Victoria Archibald and husband, Brian; nephew, Hank Kay Jr; niece, Pamela Oakes and husband, Tim; and many other cherished relatives including his aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews in Connecticut and Texas. Steve’s protégé, Matt Burns and extended families in both states will also miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Kay; brother, Hank Kay and parents, Robert and Josephine Kay.
Above all, Steve loved his family and was happily involved in all his children’s activities. He lived life with a spirit that was uniquely his own, his laughter, music, stories, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed. Though he is no longer with us, the light he brought into every room and into the lives of everyone who loved him will remain.
Family and friends are invited to come together to remember Steven, share stories, celebrate his life, and honor the lasting memories he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request your kind words and cards only will be greatly appreciated.
