Obituary

Sydney Darlene Grimes, 78, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in Fort Worth. Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Grimes was born August 21, 1939 in Iowa Park, Texas. She was the daughter of the late, Elbys O. (Burnside) and Robert H. Banner. She grew up in that area and met Lester Grimes, who was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base. They married December 22, 1957 and celebrated 60 years of marriage. In the late 60's they moved to Fort Worth and Mrs. Grimes become very active working with youth. She helped to form the Azle Youth Association (AYA), and for more than 40 years it has provided a place for youth to be part of a team. Mrs. Grimes taught a number of youth activities from bowling to archery and was an umpire for 30 years. Mrs. Grimes is survived by her husband, Lester Grimes; son, Paul Grimes and wife, Misty; daughter, Kelly Levon and husband, Allen; sister, Peggy Rhyne; brother, Jimmy Banner; grandchildren, Justin Wakefield, Kali Tipton, Kasi Wakefield, Jason Levon and Aaron Dodier.
