Teresa "Tracy" Horn was born to Vincent and Cecilia Luza on November 1, 1927 in Bryan, Texas. Visitation: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Biggers Funeral Home with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to commence at 7:00 p.m. Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Tracy was a second generation American of Czech descent. She learned to speak English after starting grade school at Saint Joseph's in Bryan. She was one of eight children, growing up on a farm. Eventually, she moved to the city of Bryan and lived with her oldest sister, Mary Zemanek and family until she married. Her brother-in-law, Louis Zemanek introduced her to one of his coworkers, Alfred Horn, and after a courtship, they married on November 25, 1947 in Saint Joseph's Church. They had a traditional Czech reception with a large dinner followed by a polka dance. They lived in Bryan for a few years and then moved to Fort Worth so that Alfred could attend an auto mechanic trade school. After a few years they settled into a home built by Alfred where they lived for many years and raised their family. Tracy and Alfred joined Saint Thomas Catholic Church about that same time and remained members until their deaths. They were very active in the church, donating their time and talents wherever needed. Tracy was a member of The Altar Society, Catholic Women's Organization, home, and school organization and often served as room mother at the school. They were strong in their faith and made sure their three children, Karen, Kenneth and Kerry were baptized and received a Catholic education from grade school through high school. Tracy also took pride in providing a loving home for her children and husband. For many years, she maintained a large garden and canned countless jars of vegetables, fruits, and jellies. She was an excellent cook and baker, often preparing many traditional Czech pastries, strudels, cakes, pies, and cookies. She also loved spoiling her grandchildren, often taking them to the 99-cent store and giving each child a few dollars allowing them to shop and pick out their very own treasures, which was a highlight for each child. When the great-grandchildren came along, she loved to read to them and treat them with their choice of candy. After Alfred died in 2004, Tracy continued to live in the home he provided until age and health problems forced her to move where she could receive more care in 2018. She continued to receive Holy Communion weekly. Tracy was a woman of great faith and was a kind, gentle soul until the very end when her physical burdens became too great to bear. She passed away quietly on October 18, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Cecilia Luza; her husband of 56 years, Alfred; brothers, Jerome Luza, Charles Luza and wife, Lydia, Vincent Luza and wife, Janetta; sisters, Mary Zemanek and husband, Louis, Cecilia Luza and husband, Willie and Helen Milberger and husband, James. Tracy is survived by her brother, Anton Luza and wife, Willie Ann; daughter, Karen Haggard and husband, Dan; sons, Kenneth and wife, Lynn, and Kerry and wife, Susan; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
