Terry Lee Rhoades, 74, of Muncie, Indiana passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, with his family by his side.

Memorial Service:  11:00 am, Saturday, March 30, 2024, Fountain of Mercy, 2814 Oscar Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76106.

Terry Rhoades was born May 15, 1949, in Muncie, Indiana to Melvin Rhoades and Mary Kurtz Rhoades.  He graduated from Southside High School in 1967 and went on to get his Tool and Dye Trade School Certificate.  Terry worked in the family business as a tool and dye maker until he went on to work at General Motors where he worked for over 35 years before retiring.

He married Susie Byers, and together they adopted their son, Daniel Rhoades (Wife, Mary Esther Deluna).

Terry had an opportunity to go into professional bowling as a young man but decided having a family was what he wanted.  He even bowled a 299 in tournament game. He also enjoyed playing baseball when he was in school and softball as he was older.  He would tell us all the time about a game where he batted 4 times and hit all 4 times at bat.  As a youngster, he built his own telescope.  He later liked flying RC planes, developing his own photographs including astro photos.  His passion for astronomy continued into his elder years as he shared his knowledge and gave several of his telescopes to interested youngsters.

He was involved in the start of the Muncie Astronomy Club where he served as president and other positions until November 2023.  He initiated the educational outreach program within the club and led it for several years which helped raise science awareness in the area.  Terry shared this passion with his girlfriend (Alison Beam-Hindman) for the last 23 years.  He also supported Alison with her artwork and was made an honorary member of the Muncie Artists Guild.  He enjoyed traveling and riding in the car.

Terry always looked forward to visiting his three grandchildren in Texas every year where he would go to baseball games, graduations, and adventures to Galveston, Fort Hood and many other places.  Terry always wanted to be just part of the family even after his nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver diagnosis in November 2023.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, father, and grandparents.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Alison Beam-Hindman of Muncie, Indiana; his son, Daniel Rhoades and wife, Mary Esther of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, William Rhoades, Maya Rhoades and Phillip Rhoades.
