Thomas Lawrence Alvey, 84, of Saginaw, Texas, known to friends as Larry, passed away the morning of February 1, 2026.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2026, Biggers Funeral Chapel
Inurnment: 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Larry was born May 29, 1941, to Thomas Raymond Alvey and Elizabeth Beaven Alvey in Morganfield, Kentucky. He moved to Los Angeles, California with his mother at age twelve. After Larry graduated from Hollywood High School in 1958, he went on to join the Army, where he served his country as an expert marksman and sharpshooter.
In 1966, while visiting Texas with an Army buddy, Larry met Jean Mathis in Aspermont, Texas. When they married soon after in Floydada, Texas, Larry, who was raised Catholic became a Methodist. After Jean graduated college, they lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico and Odessa, Texas before settling in Midland, Texas, where they lived for over four decades.
Larry served as a loan officer at the Odessa Savings and Loan and went on to own his own accounting business in Midland. He also served as the Treasurer of The Rotary Club of Midland, Texas. Larry and Jean had two daughters, Kendra and Crystal.
In 2014, Larry partially retired and moved with Jean to Saginaw, Texas to be near daughter, Crystal, and grandsons, Logan and Jayce Bingham. He loved spending time on his boat, at the shooting range with Logan, and learning to play guitar with Jayce. He also enjoyed watching Star Trek, reading, woodworking, and fishing, and he was a proud, lifelong dog lover.
Larry is survived by wife, Jean Alvey; daughters, Kendra Parsons and Crystal Bingham; son-in-law, Tim Parsons; and grandsons, Logan Bingham and Jayce Bingham.
