Born on October 17, 1938, in Waco, Texas, to Nolan and Ruby Thorn, Thomas grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work, community, and the natural beauty of his home state. He attended Waco schools and later pursued higher education at the University of Texas at Arlington, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in engineering and leadership.

Thomas served as a managing director at North Texas Steel, where his passion for infrastructure came to life. He was especially proud of his work building tall interstate bridges.

Outside of work, Thomas found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to fish and those who knew him best will remember the childlike glee that lit up his face whenever he reeled in a catch. His love for nature and the outdoors was a constant thread throughout his life.

Thomas was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Marilyn Wasek Seely, who passed away earlier this year on June 15, 2025. Together, they built a loving family and shared a lifetime of memories.

He is survived by his two children, Allen and Lawrie; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of warmth, strength, and curiosity.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
