TSgt Keith S. Carpenter was born April 3, 1963, in Cleveland, Ohio to John C. and Willa S. Carpenter. Nicknamed "Bones" for his slender size, he grew up in the Harvard/Lee area where he was active in the softball league and boy scouts. He graduated from Chanel High School (Bedford, OH) in May 1981. While in high school he won several awards for track and field, even placing in the state meet. He earned a scholarship to attend Ohio State University.

In 1984, Keith married Yolanda Starr and of this union his only child Keyona Starr Carpenter. In 1985, Keith enlisted in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Korea he would then meet and marry Kwan, whom he spent 37 years with. He also worked diligently to earn rank and college degrees including an Associates in Applied Science (1991), Associates in Arts (1993), Bachelors of Business Administration (1994), and a Masters of Business Administration (1997). After serving for 20 years, he proudly retired from the Air Force in 2005.

After retiring, he took on many roles and held a list of positions including being the Board Director of the Dyess Credit Union to his most recent for Tarrant County. He was also the President of his communities HOA; just to name a few.

Those who knew Keith took a liking to him. He was competitive and had several hobbies including racquetball in which he won competitions and awards. Being a fan of various sports, he would make it evident that he was one of the Ohio State Buckeyes (OH….IO!!!).

He was a great person and an exceptional friend. We all will miss his intellect, smile, conversation, cooking, and the list goes on.

Keith passed away on April 17, 2024, and is survived by his wife, Kwan Carpenter; sister, Denise Stephens Carpenter; daughter, Keyona; grandchildren, Key 'ante Sherrod-Carpenter, Key'sean and Mil'ania Sherrod; great-granddaughter, Na'zaia Sherrod-Carpenter; and a host of relatives.

You were there for me when I needed you no matter the choices I may have made. It was only right for me to rush to be by your side in your time of need. I refused to let you be alone. You will always be special to me and no matter where life takes me, I just want to make you proud. You will always have a place in my heart, and I will forever remember you with love. Until we meet again.
