Vernell Grantham, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 29, 2024.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Interment:  Annetta Cemetery

Vernell was born March 9, 1934, in Clarendon, Texas to Johnnie May and Chaston Walls.  The seventh of eight children, she was a twin.   Living in the Texas panhandle and Oklahoma, she graduated as Lawton High School Valedictorian and attended Bible College.

On a Sunday morning at church in 1955, she met the love of her life, Melvin.  They were married six weeks later and enjoyed 54 years of marriage.  Two children blessed their lives, David and Rebekah.  They settled in Southern California for 25 years and started a concrete pumping company in 1969.  Later in the 1980's they returned to Texas and continued their entrepreneurship with Central Concrete Pumping.  Vernell owned and managed this thriving business into her 80's.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting, painting, and Bible study.  She was a long-time member of Lakeside Church of God and enjoyed her group of friends there.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Allen, Scott Franklin, Matt Meyer, Mike Payne and grandsons, Robert and Levi Walker.

She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Melvin Henry Grantham, son; David, and six siblings; Doyle, Gene, Kent, Argie, Charlie and Jenell.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebekah Walker (Carl); granddaughters, Michelle Grantham, Melinda Malone (Andrew) and Callie Walker; grandsons, Robert Walker (Sally), Levi Walker (Erika); great-grandchildren, Arin Crawford, Abigail Crawford, Dominic Lagasse, and Henry, Poppy, Lottie and Mimi Walker; and her baby sister, Mary Shine.
