Vernon Lee Lavender, Sr., 78, passed from this life Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, the city where his life began and where he built his legacy.

Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Avenue, Lake Worth, Texas 76135.

Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery following service.

Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2026, Biggers Funeral Home.

Born November 23, 1947, in Fort Worth to Joseph Daniel Lavender and Bertie Lorene South, Vernon grew up with a strong work ethic, a deep love for family, and a quiet resilience that carried him through every chapter of his life.

On February 12, 1969, he married Carol (Bond) Lavender, and together they raised three children who were the pride of his life. Vernon worked hard to provide for his family, spending many years self employed in roofing and running a machine shop. Later in life, he devoted himself to serving others as a home health care worker, offering the same steady care and compassion he showed his own loved ones. He also served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army.

Vernon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; and his siblings Brenda, Sonny, Viola, Jean, and Becky.

He is survived by his children, Lee Lavender, Kevin Lavender, and Jeremy Lavender; eighteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his sister, Linda Mayo, all of whom carry forward his spirit, his stories, and his unwavering love.

Vernon will be remembered for his dedication, his quiet strength, and the deep affection he held for his family. His presence will be missed, but his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
