Obituary

Victor Martin, age 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Mass: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2026, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Born on September 26, 1942, in Howard County, Texas, he was the second of ten children born to Travis and Ann Martin. His childhood was shaped by the lively, loving energy of a large family—firstborn Travis (Buster), followed by Victor, then Mary Jane, Wanda, Elizabeth, Glen, Garland, Doug, and twins, Maxine and Charlene.

Victor graduated from Laneri Catholic High School in Fort Worth and later continued his education at several business schools. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, with assignments in both Japan and Washington State, experiences that remained meaningful to him throughout his life.

He married Shirley Bezner Martin, and together they shared 32 years of companionship, laughter, and adventure. In retirement, they enjoyed countless bus trips across the country, forming friendships and memories along the way. They loved dancing, especially at senior centers in Springtown—and were active participants in many programs at the Lake Worth Senior Center.

A devoted tennis enthusiast, Victor taught senior tennis classes at Tarrant County College for many years. He cherished the game and the friendships it brought him. He also loved the outdoors, spending hours tending to his yard and garden. Victor had a passion for collecting and was a familiar face at local thrift stores, always eager to discover something he might have missed the last time.

Victor was a long-time member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and previously of St. Paul Catholic Church, both in Fort Worth. His faith was a steady presence in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Ann Martin; his sister, Mary Jane, and his brothers, Glen and Doug.

Victor is survived by his wife, Shirley Bezner Martin; his three sons, Victor (Maria), Michael, and Manuel; and five grandchildren, Victor, Sofia, Oliver, Jinsen, and Phineas; two stepsons, Ryan and Troy (Brandy); and two step-granddaughters, Celeste and Candice.
